The SB change gears have are .962 bore and the Mikron is 14mm (,952) I can use shim stock to adjust the fit, Do you think that will work?

I can get Atlas change gears, they have a.500 bore so I can open them up to fit. That will run about $100.

To test out things, I put my 48DP hob on the machine and put a .800 diameter blank in the headstock and turned the drive by hand, I figured that I would try cutting and work my way down to .729 (35t, 48DP = .729 PD, right?)

BTW the hob feed gears are 69t driving 80t. I need to put an indicator on the hob slide and see how far 1 rev moves the hob.

Anyway I set the hob depth to .020, hob angle to 1 degree and ran through 3 revs on the workpiece by hand. It sorta looks like a gear :(

I then tried it with the hob feed off and it looked a lot better. Maybe I should make some gear blanks the correct diameter?

Thanks for your help
Robi
