BTW. Your looking at the index wrong. The gear on the end of the hob spindle should be a 32. The index would be 16/34 = A/B x C/D. Or 32/84 x 42/34. Drive/Driven.
If you are simply reading the train backwards then the index you have will try to cut 38.25 teeth!
The correct od for 48 pitch 34 teeth is .750. # of teeth divided by the pitch. Pitch diameter is # of teeth divided by the pitch, .7083.
