When you say there are craters in the teeth, are you referring to the teeth in the cutter or the teeth on the part being cut.?
What is the whole depth of the tooth or Diametral Pitch.
What is the material you are cutting, hob speed, what feed.
What are the quality of the cutter and material of cutter.
Hardness of the Steel being cut (assuming it is steel).
Is the work properly supported. Is the cutter coated?
There is a lot of information which needs to be considered in order to determine the problem. What type of coolant?
