I agree with Tom Ramsey. The program modeling geometry is not so easy, whether you go with a rack form cutter and incrementally roll the gear, or you try to cut it with an involute shaped cutter.

I don't know, but it seems like using a rack form cutter, and taking multiple passes to generate the involute would be simpler to program - just a thought.

Makes a hobbing machine look realllly good :^)
