I have had been one of the old guards of the internet who used to abhor ads, but, times have changed. And ads are harmless way to make money so very necessary to run good community service like this web site.
The only ads I hate are the ones that block your screen (and you have to click on (x) to close them and then see the web sites) or pop up and pop under windows etc. They are headache.
If you go for the ads as mentioned here or even ads like from google in upper and lower part of the page, they are pretty harmless.
