Dear Sir,

I recently purchased gleason no.11 single cycle formate gear finishing machine. I have little confusion about it .

Usually normal bevel generators of gleason system have four generating cycles

a) Start of roll
b) Centre of roll
c) Withdraw
d) Return roll

Normally, the work is indexed one tooth during its return roll.

As No.11 is a non-genrated machine, where the job is fixed at one place without movement of sliding base in reverse & forwrad position. This indicate that machine has not provision to clear the job while indexed on tooth. Only a cutter of helix form should be applied on this machine. Where all inside and outside blades are fixed radially, leaving some space for indexing.

All is it so ?

Can anyone tell me about its operation sequence ?

Note : Pitures of machines and cutters are available on request.
