I've recently heard from several gear shops trying to start up 2A spur machines and 102H spiral generators. Unfortunately, they bought the machines without realizing that the machines are incomplete without a range of generating cams necessary to use the machines in a job shop environment.
For complete job shop service, these machines (Nos. 2A, 102, and 2) require a number of generating cams to cover the range of rollout angles that a shop summary might require.
Also, if the summary results in desired roll of cradle greater than 76 Deg, then an extra depth Feed cam is required. The standard depth feed cam is G2H-165-1 and the extra depth feed cam is G2H-165-3.
I've attempted to find a source for these cams since shops have asked me for that information, but I haven't found a source. Some shops indicate that they couldn't get these cams from Gleason any longer. Does anyone know whether Gleason still provides these?
