Fellows 36-6 type gear shaper spindle spring assembly

Hi I have just bought fellows 36 gear Shaper. It has no spring inside the cutter spindle and I cannot find any information in the manual or parts manual about it.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what spring I need and how it is assembled. It is an early 1950s model. Thank you everyone for your help.
