The sources I use are all in my native language, which is Polish.
A shaper cutter is different from a pinion, because it has a rack angle and a relief angle, the cutting edge depends on both. It can be compensated for to get a perfect shape (new class 6), or just the profile angle can be adjusted- the cutter's profile will not be perfect, but luckily it tends to crown the gear's profile. i check the amount of error, take the different cutting conditions into account based on experience and come up with a desired modification, that can be different for each height of the cutter.
