AK, I looked up the cone distance gauge in my
manual. It is an additional setup tool used to set
the work head correctly. I don't have this gauge,
so in order to set the work head I have to be
careful about making the blank accurately. Then
I add up all the offsets,...hub face to crown, crown to cone center and, mounting spacers and fixtures. This sum is the head setting. Would be nice to have the vernier but not critical. Making sure the work head is set correctly with the cutters is the key.
