Re. the Undercut produced by a Shaper Vs. that produced by a hob, in the absence of any specific modifications (such as short leading of the hob, protuberance, tip radius , flats etc.) the shaper cutter tends to produce a higher start of undercut compared to the hob, because of the different generating action.
