I have a 3 start worm and the 24 tooth gear for it. I would like to reproduce these things. I measured the lead of one thread of the worm at 1.330"(.75 threads per inch), the OD of the worm is 1.765". How do I calculate the correct helix angle for the gear to go with this worm? I think the gear is a 7 DP, but appears to be a stub profile. The helix angle seems to measure around 16 degrees. The pressure angle seems to be 20 degrees.
Any help wouldbe appreciated!
