I have a small shop at my home where I make mostly custom parts for pulling tractors. I have made quite a few custom sets of transmission gears for different tractors. Up until now I have been machining these on a milling machine using involute cutters or with a small endmill on my cnc mill. If they had splines, I poked them out with a slotter and a rotary table using a hand ground tool.
I just bought a Barber Colman hobber so hopefully that will speed up the gear teeth but I need a better way of cutting the splines. What would be the best way for me to cut these splines?
