the equation for the involute curve are widely available, but the trick is getting two sides of the tooth the proper distance apart, and getting the trochoid root right. i have software in compiled basic that, from the gear print, plots all 3 gears in a planetary set, all teeth, and any additional diameters you need(like the i. d. of a bore). this software puts in a 'best fit' root radius that is close enough for visual purposes. at home i use a $50 shareware plotting program,'printgl'. at work(i am the parallel axis gear specialist at visteon(formerly ford automatic trans) i use a sophisticated variety of software. want a set of the software compiled free, but without any guarantees or documentation?
