I guess you're saying that some of the advantages shared with spiral bevels would be reduced thinning at small end and improved contact ratio. Also they would necessarily be generated in RH/LH pairs, right? I suppose they could even be on non-intersecting axes?

Do they present any special advantages or problems - i.e. inspection, mounting tolerances, bearing loads, etc?
