How are threads machined into worms? Turned? milled?
We use a 1.25" PD, 3 thread worm that we currently have cut outside. I'm thinking of bringing it in house. Does anyone use PM (Steel) for worms? Are threads normally rough cut and then finished ground? Our current manufacturer finishes the ends of the threads so that there is no sharp edges. How is this done?
