Really don't know, Ron. That's a tough one. Possible alternate solutions: Can you rough-cut the splines by waterjet or laser or CNC, so you just have the finishing cut left to deal with? (on second thought, 100 mm thick... that's a lot maybe a little dicey.) Or for that matter, rough the splines before heat-treat, finish after? Or does that affect the distortion aspect?
Well, that or carbide cutters.
