Three excellent books which cover what you're after are: "Gear geometry and applied theory" by Faydor L. Litven ISBN: 0-13-211095-4 and "Analytical Mechanics of Gears" by Earle Buckingham, sorry no ISBN on this one. For more detail of cylindrical - planar & cylindrical - cylindrical(transverse) refer to "Design of worm and spiral gears" by Earle Buckingham & Henry H. Ryffel, once again no ISBN. I got hold of all these books via Amazon. The last two were purchased second hand.
