The No. 12 Barber Coleman is one of the oldest models and it was designed to cut up to 12 inch diameter. It came before the 6-10 or 6-16 models.
It uses bronze bearings throughout; no ball bearings. I had two of these some years back, and as I recall, the index gears are 10 NDP. One was motorized later in its life; it was originally driven by an overhead flat belt pulley.
I don't think there was ever a differential with the No. 12's, but don't quote me on that.
