When you ask "DP most appropriate to use", I think there are other factors in making a DP choice.

When you say you are choosing from a catalog, I'm thinking you only have a choice of DP - is that the case?

I think material, gear class, finish and treatment, gear noise, gear box stiffness and torque load are equally important to your question.

I hope there are others who will share experience - I'm hopelessly over my head here.

Without a better answer, you might try different DP sample gears and make some comparisons?
