I have a gear or maybe a set of gears to make for a pulling tractor. These are 5dp spur gears. The gears in the tractor are 35 and 26 teeth. They operate at a center distance of 6.100" I need to change the ratio slightly and I want to make a new 34 tooth gear to take the place of the 35 tooth original gear. I know that this can be done using a profile shifted gear but what I need to know is if I can make only the new 34 tooth and run it against the original 26 tooth gear or I will have to make two new profile shifted gears so that the profile is shifted equally on both gears.
