Thanks for the great reply. The 26 tooth gear is standard. I know this because I made it a couple of years ago. The only thing is that I didn't have a hobber back then and I made it on a milling machine using a gear tooth cutter and a dividing head. I am going to give this new gear a try on my hobber and see how it works. I am assuming that you can't make profile shifted gears using a milling machine because the shape of the gear tooth cutter will not be correct for a profile shifted gear.
I am just wondering if you designed the software for figuring all these dimensions. Would you be willing to sell a copy of it so I don't have to bother you guys each time I make a special gear?
Another question is where do you buy the special sized test pins for measuring the gears? I use gear tooth calipers but I think the pins would be much more accurate.
