The hob tip radius has a major effect on root profile.
Zero hob rad = weaker root and possible undercut.
Max hob rad = strongest root, less risk of undercut but more risk of interference. I can find no clear recommendations on the subject even though they must have major effect on gear performance.
1.What are the standards used by hob manufacturers?
2. Why is it generally ignored by gear designers and little interest shown in developing the actual root profile?
