Testing pitch radius is a method of verifying tooth thickness of a gear using a master gear. Take the maximum and minimum tooth thining and multiply each by the cossine of the pressure angle and subtract from the answers from the pitch radius to obtain the max and min testing pitch radius. Next, mesh the test radii with yiur master gear at its known test radius for verifying the tooth to tooth and total composite errors. For more information e-mail me at J.W.Lincoln@worldnet.att.net
