Hi, We tried cutting 45 degree cast iron gears today and as soon as the cut starts there is a bit of vibration and the initial part of the teeth are not cut properly. However, after the initial few mm, the rest of the gear is cut properly.
Is this anything to do with the feed or speed?

Current conditions are:
8DP (3.125 module), right hand hob. 44 teeth to be cut. Hob RPM 80. Cutting speed as calculated is 17 m/min. Depth of first cut is 3mm. Feed is 0.63mm / rev.

Are these parameters ok. Also, someone suggested we do climb hobbing. What is the difference?

Thanks.
