Back angle of gear shaper

I found shaper cut gears with different root diameter after shaper be ground, of cause they have the same span meassurment. So, I think the tooth tip back angle is the reason, it should keep the root diameter always the same. It is associated with the helix angle of shaper teeth. After some caculations, I noticed the back face of tooth tip is not straight, it is a curve line like a parabola. To cut gears with less number of teeth, the root diameter deffers more.
Is my finding right?
