This is just an idea, haven't tried it, but take a look at the concepts behind the Brown & Sharpe Universal Spiral Differential Index Head. It might be possible to adapt the principles. Such a head with the 12 standard gears and 8 additional special gears, all of 100 teeth or less, is capable of all divisions from 1 to 1000 and very many beyond.
