We converted "Gleason-system" cut spiral bevel gearpair of ratio 6:37.
to "Oerlikon-system"and cut them on oerlikon machines
SKM-2.These are used in Massey Ferguson Tractor MF-240.
The field failures is high in Oerlikon pair as compared to same Gleason pair
I seek Technical advise on following:-
1)Is it that Gleason cut crown wheel and pinion are
more stronger than Oerlikon cut gears?
2)Is it that since spiral angle in Gleason is less
(28 vs 36)as compared to Oerlikon that the load
carrying capacity is less in Oerlikon?
3)We kept all other parameters same like material,
hardness,no. of teeth,etc same.Should we have substit
uted with one of greater hardenablity and strength
4)Can any expert give a coparision of both system
higlighting both positive and negative point over
each other.
