Have you looked at the process in the smallest possible functional steps? Break the process down into measurable steps over multiple set ups. Then identify each step as Value Added (VA), Non-Value Added (NVA), and Non-Value Added but Necessary (NVAN). To fully explain how this works usually takes time but will work with all processes. The goal is to eliminate NVA, and reduce NVAN.
